London/Paris Show 10 Hour Response.. 'Evolution of The Body'

Explaining my Piece -

As with any piece of art work, they can all be interpreted in various different ways, due to the person that is interpreting them. Seeing as I made this piece, I am going to have my own opinions about the work. When I set out to make this piece of work, I knew that I wanted to pick 4 cars that I personally felt defined the evolution of the body shape of cars. Now, tho immediately would cause an argument, as some people would judge it on a cars ability to cut through the air and reduce drag, whereas others would judge it by the most drastic changes in shape (for example if you took a Ford Escort and compared it to the modern day Ford Mondeo). I however, have based my evolution on what I would call an extreme supercar of their era. I wanted the shapes to be significantly different, otherwise my piece would technically become irrelevant. I have gone for roughly 30 years between each era, as a cars shape would significantly evolve in such a long period of time.
Why the different colors for each car? Well, the surface area, is that it makes the page brighter. However, if you look at the original images, they are the colors of the actual cars. I also feel that the colors of the cars play a crucial part in the evolution. Back in 1930, it would be rare to see any car color other than black, and the green of the Bentley signifies that the car would have been a significantly important car of the time. As we move into the 60's, lighter and paler colors came into fashion, with creams and yellows becoming more popular. In the 80's the first real 'performance' cars were put into production and the vibrant red implied the speed and sleekness of the era. Lastly, the most advanced shape on the grid, the blue Pagani - showcasing the beauty and ingenuity of car designers and the ability to paint a car in any color you want.
The final point, is defined by how good your eye sight is - or if you want to repress the fact you are slowly going blind, you can blame your computer screen - but there is a faint gold line dividing the images and the year of the car above them - these small intricate details add to the overall tidiness of the page and are able to help define the piece, whilst not getting in the way. There is also a repeated title going through the middle of the page.

  1. I think this response has lots of potential Reece. You do need to expand the idea further and really show off your analysis skills and big brain. I's like to see some more experimentation with more media and materials. Explain to death
