My chosen artist for this piece is Alex Penfold. I want to work on my composition skills and trying to take an image that not only looks natural, but is also visually pleasing and breathtaking to a sense.
Similarly in this photo, the abstract lines of the wall lead to the subject of the photo. The way that the walls are so white contrasts the dark background, drawing the viewers eyes towards the left hand side of the photo. Interestingly, there is light to dark gradient in the photo that goes from left to right. This is odd as the subject of the photo is prominently on the right hand side of the photo, so making it get darker over that side seems like an odd thing to do. However, this does set the mood of the photo as the car itself is very dark with the matte black finish and the black wheels. This combined with the edgy lighting of the photo gives it a very sinister, evil mood.
Unlike the photo above, this photo focuses on high key lighting, making the photo appear vibrant and lively. The bright, glossy red of the car contrasts the bright white and makes the subject of the photo really stand out. Furthermore, the black lines on the floor lead the viewers eyes towards the car, making it stand out even more. Similarly, the pole's sharp lines draw attention to the car. The photo follows the general rule of thirds as the car is placed in the middle of the photo. The negative space adds to the eeriness and the loneliness of the photo, creating the sense that the photo is vast and lacking in life.
